On a beautiful crisp winters morning you are warmly welcomed into a bright and colourful entrance hall. This was one of the latest project Maja has worked on together with the client. “We talked about wanting it to be a welcoming but also impactful space.” The result was a triumph which makes you smile every time you walk through the space.
The space is cleverly mixed between the lovely William Morris Fruit wallpaper together with some walls painted in a matching colour. Maja thought if all the walls were wallpapered, the space would feel too overwhelming, but at the same time wanted the impact of the wallpaper to still be felt and seen from every angle.
The client also had an antique sofa which she wanted reupholstered. Maja suggested to use Sanderson Ishi for the seat, and Romo Linara for the back bringing in some of the colours from the wallpaper and some more pattern which adds a playfulness to the space. Mixing something more traditional like the Morris print on the walls with a more geometric pattern gives the space a bit more of a relaxed feel.
On the landing, rather than choosing a plain fabric for the curtain Maja found a fabric which would compliment the wallpaper. As you walk up the stairs, you also notice the subtle carpet which brings softness and a calm to the space.
